Karnal(Haryana): Sarpanch representative of Kharak Gadia village of Jind has committed suicide after he got booked under the SC-ST act. The deceased has been identified as a 35-year-old Pragat Singh who was in depression due to the two false cases of the SC-ST act.
Pragat Singh’s brother told local media that some time ago a person who has been identified as Ajmer Valmiki was caught doing tantric rituals in the Shamsham. In that case, Pragat Singh had called the police.
However, on the statement of the Tantrik, the police had registered a counter case of the SC-ST act against 10 villagers including Pragat Singh.
“Singh was on bail but the false atrocity case had put him in depression. Also, he didn’t attend any family functions. He skipped four marriages that happened in his family. He is survived by his wife and a year old daughter,” his brother told NP.
Not the first time
It was not the first time when someone has committed suicide after getting booked under the SC-ST act. Recently an 18-year-old had ended his life when threatened with the SC-ST act in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.
