Meenas pelted stones at Dalit groom’s wedding procession, 6 injured, FIR on 29

Bhopal: In a shocking incident in Mandsaur, a Dalit groom’s wedding procession was stopped by people from the Meena community, leading to violence and injuries. The groom, Arjun, is a constable in the Border Security Force (BSF) and was set to get married on Wednesday night. However, during the wedding procession, miscreants pelted stones and even attacked the police who arrived at the scene. Six people from the Dalit community were injured in the incident.

According to Garoth police station in-charge Kamlesh Singar, the groom’s procession was heading out in Piplia Raja village when it was stopped by the Meena community. They blocked the way by putting stones and thorns on the road. When the police arrived, the miscreants were pelting stones at the Dalit procession, leading to arrests.

The groom’s father, Vinod Meghwal, filed a complaint with the police on Thursday, leading to a case being registered against 29 people under various sections, including the ST-SC Act. On Thursday, Arjun went to pick up his bride under police custody. The police force of Additional Superintendent of Police Mahendra Tadnekar, Garoth Tehsildar, Station House Officer Kamlesh Singer, Shamgarh, Suwasra, Garoth, and Bhanpura was present at the spot.

Relatives of the groom accused the Meena community of using casteist slurs and throwing stones during the procession, leading to injuries of six people, including Ghanshyam, Toofan Singh, Ganpatlal, Rahul, and Ramchandra Meghwal.
