Bhopal: A 25-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly raped and murdered by her father as she got married to a man from the Upper caste. The accused was allegedly shocked over her daughter’s choice of marrying a boy of a different caste. The incident took place when the woman had gone to a forest on the outskirts of the city to bury her deceased baby.
The bodies of the woman and her eight-month-old son were recovered from the Samasgarh forest in the Ratibad police station area on Sunday.
In charge of Ratibad police station, Sudhesh Tiwari said that police investigation revealed that the woman’s father, a resident of Bilkisganj in Sehore, was annoyed over her love marriage.
“The accused revealed that her daughter had eloped with a youth belonging to another community. Therefore, he was infuriated over her,” Tiwari said.
The father of the young woman took her daughter to the forest and asked his son to guard their bike.
When the two of them were inside, he brought up the subject of her marriage. He lost his temper and started hitting his daughter.
The young woman was raped by her father and later murdered for the honor.
The police have arrested the man and his son. During questioning, the woman’s father told the police that he was waiting for a chance to kill her. He said that because his daughter had married outside their caste, his relatives had distanced themselves from his family.
Police have arrested the father and son and booked them under charges of rape and murder.
