Kanpur: A Dalit man has been arrested for raping and murdering a 19-year-old girl in Kanpur.
It was reported earlier that an MSC student was found unconscious near the COD bridge under the Railbazaar police station limits. The girl succumbed to injuries while taken to the hospital.
The parents had accused the victim’s classmate of murder. Her father, Sudarshan Yadav, told the police that his daughter was pursuing M.Sc (first year) from a local degree college. On Wednesday, she had left home saying that she was going to fill a form to procure a laptop.
“Usually, after returning from college, she used to take tuition in two houses, and return home every day by 7 p.m. However, on Wednesday evening, when she did not return home, we started contacting her on her phone, but none of our calls were answered. Later in the wee hours of Thursday, someone picked up the phone and informed us that she was lying under the COD bridge. We rushed there and took her to the Kanshi Ram Hospital, where the doctors declared her brought dead,” he said.
Police nabbed the main accused
The Police on Thursday had nabbed the main accused Somnath Gautam who was the classmate of the deceased. Somnath was in one-sided love with the girl and requested the girl to come into a relationship. However, the girl had rejected the proposal of Somnath Gautam. Along with Gautam, his two friends have also been arrested.
Raped and Killed for not accepting the offer
The accused had invited the girl for a party where he offered her the packet of Real Juice. The accused had mixed sleeping pills in the girl’s juice. After drinking the juice the girl fell unconscious. The accused raped her in the forest and then strangled her to death. After the murder, two friends helped in disposing of the body.
