New Delhi: India to have its own space station in the near future. In reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Union of State (Independent Charge) Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, confirms that the country will build its own space station by 2030.
Also, India’s maiden human space mission “Gaganyaan” will be launched in 2023. With this launch, India will become the fourth nation in the world to launch a Human Spaceflight Mission after USA, Russia, and China.
He also stated that the country is planning to launch two unmanned missions, the Venus mission, and the Solar mission, before flying the human space flight program “Gaganyaan” by the end of 2022.
“In the next year, we are going to have two unmanned missions before flying the Gaganyaan. That is also in the planning. That is usually the SoP (Standard Operating Procedure) which is followed. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, it got delayed,” he said. Singh also said that it would be accompanied by robots that have been named ‘Vayumitra’.
Venus Mission in 2022, Solar Mission for 2023
During the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha, Singh shared the status of other projects. He mentioned that the Venus mission is planned for 2022, while the Solar Mission for 2022-23 and that of the Space Station by 2030.
