12-years-old handicapped booked under SC-ST Act, minors targeted in Bihar

Gaya(Bihar, India): A group of minor boys of a village has been booked under the case of the SC-ST act for allegedly looting and vandalizing a house of a Dalit man.

The incident took place in the Gaharpur village of the district where FIR has also included the name of a 12-years-old handicapped boy Rohit Kumar who rarely does any work.

Villagers told our team that the case is framed by the Dalits to earn some money. The men who filed this case were themselves accused in the case of robbery and looking for some ways to earn money.

“We went for a run where four men were drinking. When we lit the torch to see, they started beating and abusing us. We were just two kids. When we informed about it at home, our family members went to complain, on which they filed a case against us” Rohit told Neo Politico.

A total of 14 members of a family has been booked under the SC-ST act where a majority of them are minors.

Ritesh Kumar who is studying in 6th standard has also been named in the FIR. Ritesh said that he doesn’t know about the act but people are saying that you are now in trouble.

“It is scary to learn that the charges can land me in jail”, Ritesh said.

After this incident, there is resentment in the community, and villagers are demanding a fair and honest investigation.
