Auraiya: The Jan Jagran Samiti in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district has submitted its 98th memorandum to the President of India, demanding measures to prevent the alleged misuse of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The memorandum was submitted to Judicial Sub-Divisional Magistrate Arsala Naz in Kakor. The committee called for investigations into allegedly false cases registered under the Act and sought the recovery of government funds it claims were improperly obtained.
Committee convener Mahesh Pandey said the organisation had been submitting memorandums on the issue for the past 98 months. He announced that the 100th memorandum would be submitted on December 19, 2026.
The committee has also announced a daily satyagraha in Kakor from December 12 to 19, ahead of the planned submission. It said it would continue submitting memorandums every month until amendments were made to the Act.
Among its other demands, the committee has called for raising the minimum age for love marriages to 25 years and making parental consent mandatory. It had previously submitted its 48th memorandum to the Prime Minister, raising these demands.
Several members of the organisation, including Praveen Paliwal, Girish Tiwari, Shyam Babu Sharma and Suresh Chand, were present during the memorandum submission.
