Jaipur: A school inspection visit by leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in Jaipur’s Rampura Kanwarpura village in Bagru turned contentious on Friday after the team faced strong opposition from local residents. CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka and other party workers reportedly encountered heated arguments and physical confrontation while visiting a government primary school whose building has been declared dilapidated.
According to the information available, the situation escalated as villagers allegedly pushed back the CJP workers and forced them to leave the area. Stones were also reportedly thrown at vehicles associated with the team. Earlier in the morning, around 8 am, a confrontation involving CJP workers and villagers had resulted in a heated exchange and scuffle.
Following the incident, local residents staged a protest outside the school and reportedly placed tractor-trolleys across the main access road, effectively blocking movement.
Villagers and BJP workers claimed that the government has already sanctioned Rs 12.50 lakh for the school’s repair and that the work would be undertaken locally. They alleged that the CJP team was attempting to politicise the condition of the school.
The dilapidated school building has reportedly forced authorities to conduct classes for children in a nearby enclosure. The CJP team was scheduled to inspect two schools in Jaipur as part of its assessment of local education infrastructure. The incident has since triggered questions over political intervention in civic issues and the manner in which such inspections are conducted.
