Former Wipro Employee Alleges Religious Harassment, Workplace Discrimination and Forced Resignation in Pune

Pune: A former employee of Wipro Technologies has accused the company of failing to address complaints of religious harassment, workplace discrimination, and mental harassment during her tenure at its Hinjewadi office in Pune. The allegations have sparked controversy after they were publicly raised at a rally organized by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

According to the former employee, she was subjected to persistent pressure by a female colleague to convert to Islam and enter into a relationship with a Muslim man. The woman alleged that the colleague repeatedly interfered in her personal life and encouraged her to abandon Hinduism, claiming that doing so would improve her prospects and provide opportunities to travel abroad.

Speaking about her experience, the former employee claimed that she endured nearly ten months of harassment and mental torture. She alleged that despite repeatedly bringing the matter to the attention of senior company officials, no meaningful action was taken to address her concerns.

The woman further stated that instead of investigating her complaints, the matter was allegedly turned against her. According to her account, a complaint was filed against her before the company’s Ombuds Committee. She claimed that in August 2025, she was called to a team meeting where she was pressured to resign from her position.

“In August 2025, I was called to a company team meeting. During this meeting, I was pressured to resign. I was not given a chance to present my case, and my resignation was accepted,” she alleged during the press conference.

The former employee’s lawyer said that a formal complaint has been filed with the Hinjewadi police station. In addition, a legal notice has reportedly been sent to Wipro Technologies, seeking compensation of ₹50 lakh for the alleged harassment and losses suffered by the complainant.

Police officials have confirmed that the complaint has been received and that an investigation has been initiated to examine the allegations. Authorities are expected to record statements and gather relevant evidence as part of the inquiry.

As of now, Wipro Technologies has not publicly responded to the allegations. Authorities have emphasized that the allegations remain under investigation and that conclusions will be drawn based on the evidence collected during the probe.
