New Delhi: Pakistan has come under criticism after an edited photograph from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2026 appeared on Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s social media account with Prime Minister Narendra Modi removed from the group image.
Prime Minister Modi, in contrast, shared the original group photograph, which included Sharif and other participating leaders. The contrasting versions of the photograph have drawn attention amid continued diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan.
Addressing the SCO summit in the Kyrgyz capital, Prime Minister Modi called for a united international effort to dismantle the entire ecosystem supporting terrorism, including its financing. He stressed that there should be “no place for double standards” in combating terrorism.
Modi’s remarks assume significance as India has consistently raised concerns over cross-border terrorism and Pakistan-based terror networks at international forums. His emphasis on confronting the broader terror ecosystem also reflects New Delhi’s push for stronger and collective action against terrorism.
The Prime Minister also reiterated India’s position that wars and conflicts should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, asserting that no lasting solution can be found on battlefields.
On connectivity, Modi said projects should respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries. His remarks were viewed in the context of concerns surrounding China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
India has maintained that regional cooperation under the SCO must remain focused on security, economic development, connectivity and combating terrorism without selective standards.
