Ancient Indian Knowledge Traditions Can Guide World Amid Global Conflicts, Says RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

Mumbai: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said India’s ancient knowledge traditions could offer solutions to the challenges confronting humanity, including global conflicts, ideological divisions and social discord.

Addressing the 14th conference of the All India Vihar Seva Group in Borivali, Mumbai, Bhagwat said the world was looking towards India for guidance rooted in its vast civilisational heritage. He emphasised that India’s traditional knowledge systems contained principles relevant to human welfare and social harmony.

“The solutions to the challenges faced by the world lies in the ancient and vast legacy of Bharat,” Bhagwat said.

Highlighting the relationship between dharma and the nation, the RSS chief said the two were interdependent and sustained each other’s existence. He described dharma as the purpose of the nation and said it played a vital role in sustaining the country’s social and cultural foundations.

Bhagwat also said India had historically shared its knowledge with other societies without resorting to military conquest or forced religious conversions, describing this approach as a distinctive feature of the Bharatiya knowledge tradition.

Referring to India’s diverse spiritual and philosophical heritage, he cited the Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita, along with Jain Agamas, the Tripitaka and Guru Granth Sahib, as important sources of teachings on human welfare and harmonious coexistence.

He further highlighted the contributions of saints and their emphasis on service and social harmony, stating that preserving and transmitting these traditions to future generations was both a religious and social responsibility.

Later in the evening, Bhagwat attended an event in Dadar, where he launched the ‘Dnyanrang: Dnyaneshwari’ mobile application, conceptualised by Amey Hete of Valuable Group.
