Delhi Teen Allegedly Raped and Murdered; Four Held After CCTV Trail Leads Police to Suspects

New Delhi: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped, stabbed to death and dumped in an open field in Delhi, with police arresting an adult man and apprehending three juveniles in connection with the case, officials said on Thursday.

The girl’s decomposed body was recovered near Jaipal Rana’s field on Kushak Road on September 13. Police said the condition of the body was such that its gender could not initially be established. Some parts had allegedly been eaten by stray dogs, while one hand was found separated from the body.

According to police, the girl was known to the accused and had accompanied them in a tempo. The suspects allegedly consumed alcohol inside the vehicle before sexually assaulting and stabbing her, following which her body was disposed of.

A case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

With no apparent eyewitnesses and the identities of the perpetrators initially unknown, investigators examined footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras. The police traced a tempo seen near the crime scene and followed its movements despite its registration number being unclear.

After a night-long search between September 15 and 16, the vehicle was traced to Khadda Colony in Swaroop Nagar. Police subsequently apprehended four suspects, including Shivam alias Sudama alias Chuchu and three juveniles aged 16 and 17.

Two knives, clothes allegedly worn by the accused and the tempo were recovered. Further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and verify forensic and technical evidence.
