PM Modi to Disburse ₹2,400 Crore Under PM-Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, Boosting Employment and Formal Job Creation

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to disburse incentives worth around ₹2,400 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) at a special event scheduled to be held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on June 19, 2026. The initiative marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the Centre’s flagship employment-linked incentive programme aimed at accelerating job creation and expanding formal employment opportunities across the country.

Launched with the objective of promoting employment-led economic growth, PM-VBRY seeks to encourage both workers and employers to participate in the formal economy. The scheme has already facilitated employment for approximately 15 lakh beneficiaries, underscoring its growing impact on India’s labour market.

Under the programme, first-time employees are eligible to receive an incentive of up to ₹15,000, providing financial support as they enter the workforce. At the same time, employers creating additional jobs can avail incentives of up to ₹3,000 per month per additional employee, encouraging businesses to expand their workforce and generate sustained employment opportunities.

The scheme provides special support to the manufacturing sector, which is considered a key driver of economic growth and industrial development. Employers in manufacturing can receive incentives for up to four years, while employers in other sectors are eligible for benefits for two years.

PM-VBRY came into effect on August 1, 2025, and carries a total financial outlay of ₹99,446 crore. The government aims to facilitate the creation of more than 3.5 crore jobs over a two-year period through the initiative. Of these, nearly 1.92 crore beneficiaries are expected to be first-time entrants into the workforce.

The government has described the scheme as a major step toward strengthening social security coverage, encouraging formalisation of employment, and ensuring that the benefits of India’s economic growth translate into meaningful job opportunities.
