Rohtak: A 23-year-old woman, identified as Muskan, the wife of international kabaddi player Sheelu Balhara, allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Haryana’s Rohtak district on Friday. The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with police launching an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to her death.
Muskan, a resident of Meham in Rohtak, had married Sheelu Balhara in December 2023. The couple welcomed their son, Hardik, in November last year. According to police, officers reached the family’s residence after receiving information about the incident. A forensic team was also called to examine the scene and collect evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have stated that the exact reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be established. Investigators are examining all aspects of the case, and statements from family members and other individuals are expected to be recorded. Officials have not disclosed whether any suicide note has been recovered.
Reports indicate that Muskan had shared a social media reel featuring a Punjabi song just a day before the incident. However, investigators have not linked the post to the case, and police have urged against drawing premature conclusions until the inquiry is completed.
The incident comes amid growing concern over several recent cases of alleged suicides involving young married women across the country. In a separate case reported recently from Dehradun, a government school teacher allegedly died by suicide, with her family accusing her husband and in-laws of dowry-related harassment. That matter is also under investigation.
Meanwhile, police in Rohtak have appealed for patience while the investigation continues and have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
