Ghaziabad: A wave of deep communal tension and grief has gripped the Khoda police station area in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, following the brutal murder of a 17-year-old Hindu teenager. The victim, identified as Surya Pratap Chauhan, was allegedly lured and savagely stabbed to death by a group of his former Muslim acquaintances on the evening of May 28, coinciding with the festival of Bakrid. The chilling nature of the crime, combined with highly provocative statements reportedly made by the perpetrators, has left the local community in a state of shock and outrage, prompting a heavy deployment of police forces to maintain law and order.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s family, Surya Pratap Chauhan, a Class 11 student and resident of Navneet Vihar in the Khoda police station area, was allegedly lured to a location near Chaudhary School by a former acquaintance identified as Asad.
Witness accounts cited by the victim’s friends paint a disturbing picture of the attack. One of Surya’s friends alleged that before the stabbing, the accused made a chilling remark, asking the teenager whether he had ever seen a goat being slaughtered. Moments later, Surya was allegedly attacked with knives by the accused and his associates. The victim sustained critical injuries and was immediately rushed to Fortis Hospital in Noida for treatment.
Despite efforts by doctors to save him, Surya succumbed to his injuries on Friday. His death has left his family devastated and has intensified public anger over the incident.
The tragic demise of the young student has devastated his family, leaving behind a mother consumed by grief and demanding immediate, absolute justice. Speaking exclusively to the media, Surya’s mother, Saroj, expressed her immense anguish and directly appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take the strictest possible administrative actions.
“I was not at home when this happened; we had absolutely no idea that he would stab my son on the day of Bakrid. I want complete justice,” Saroj stated through her tears. She vehemently demanded that the authorities deploy the state’s signature “bulldozer action” against the property of the prime accused, Asad, and urged law enforcement to neutralize him. “Just as my son was brutally stabbed, I want that boy to be neutralized in an encounter. I want blood for blood,” she added.
The brutality of the daytime murder has sent shockwaves through Surya’s friend circle. Ayush, an eyewitness who was present beside Surya when the knives were drawn, expressed immense vulnerability regarding his current situation. Speaking to journalists, Ayush noted that his entire family is living in a state of constant terror, deeply anxious about potential retaliation from the accused’s associates. He has formally requested immediate police protection for himself and his household to ensure their safety.
Simultaneously, prominent leaders from local Hindu organizations have begun visiting both the Fortis hospital and the bereaved family’s residence in Navneet Vihar to express solidarity. Representatives from these right-wing outfits have alleged that the murder was fueled by deeper communal malice, claiming that the victim was explicitly told by the attackers that they would “sacrifice Hindus instead of a cow or a goat” on the festive day. These statements have significantly amplified the underlying anger within the locality.
In response to the escalating anger, the Ghaziabad police have mobilized significant resources to defuse the situation and apprehend those responsible. Based on a formal complaint lodged by Surya’s elder brother, Yash, FIR has been officially registered at the Khoda Police Station.
Providing an update on the legal proceedings, ACP Indirapuram, Abhishek Shrivastava, confirmed the details of the incident. “The youth, Surya Chauhan, was stabbed on Thursday during the festival of Bakrid and unfortunately passed away during treatment at the hospital on Friday. We have taken the official written complaint from the family members and registered the case. Multiple dedicated police teams have been successfully deployed, and raids are actively being conducted across various locations to ensure the swift arrest of the accused,” the ACP stated.
Meanwhile, preliminary details regarding the prime accused, Asad, have started to emerge. Investigations revealed that Asad is a school dropout who left his education after completing the 8th grade. His father, Nawab, works locally as a carpenter, and Asad reportedly used to assist his father with daily carpentry jobs.
With the neighborhood remaining highly sensitive, local authorities are working around the clock to determine the exact motive behind the murder. Investigators are currently probing whether the brutal assault was the culmination of a long-standing personal dispute, or if there were external factors that provoked Asad to execute such a calculated and horrific crime against his teenage acquaintance. Heavy police patrolling continues in the Navneet Vihar and Khoda sectors to prevent any untoward communal incidents.
