SEBI Clears Four IPOs as India’s Primary Market Rebounds Amid Global Uncertainty

India’s capital markets regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has approved four companies, Avaada Electro, Grand Housing, Sonaselection India, and Vishal Nirmiti, to launch their initial public offerings (IPOs), signalling renewed momentum in the primary market.

The clearances coincide with a period of global market turbulence brought on by growing geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran, which have periodically affected investor mood, crude oil prices, and capital flows throughout emerging economies. India’s IPO pipeline is robust and well-diversified in spite of these challenges.

According to SEBI data, the current IPO pipeline comprises over 220 firms across eight major sectors. Industrials & Infrastructure dominate with 85 companies, followed by Consumer-focused businesses at 57. Energy & Utilities (17), Financials (18), Healthcare & Pharma (16), Materials & Chemicals (15), Technology (11), and Services (6) make up the rest, indicating broad-based participation rather than sector-specific concentration.

Among the newly approved issues, Avaada Electro stands out as the largest, with plans to raise ₹9,000-10,000 crore. The Brookfield-backed renewable energy firm aims to expand its solar manufacturing capacity, including a major integrated facility in Uttar Pradesh. The IPO could value the company between ₹1.1 lakh crore and ₹1.3 lakh crore.

Grand Housing’s issue will be entirely an offer-for-sale of 3.55 crore shares, while Sonaselection India plans a fresh issue aimed at debt reduction and capacity expansion. Vishal Nirmiti will combine both fresh issue and OFS components to fund infrastructure growth.

These approvals’ timing is noteworthy. The consistent increase in IPO candidates indicates underlying investor confidence in India’s economic story, notwithstanding the sporadic volatility caused by international concerns. This wave of approvals may signal the beginning of a new IPO cycle, one that emerges stronger following recent global disruptions, if market conditions hold steady.
