Agra: A controversy has emerged involving Mukesh Kumar, popularly known as “Kumar Sir”, founder of Kumar’s IAS coaching institute in Agra, after he alleged that a female student threatened him with a false caste-based harassment case and subsequently demanded ₹20,000 to withdraw her complaint.
According to Kumar’s account in a video, the student had enrolled at his coaching institute in 2023 and paid a monthly fee of ₹5,000 for several months. He alleged that after attending classes for some time, she returned and sought a refund of the amount paid. When the matter was not resolved to her satisfaction, Kumar claimed that she threatened to file a case under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against him.
Kumar further alleged that an FIR was subsequently filed, accusing him of using caste-based slurs and insulting the woman. He claimed that he feared serious legal consequences and possible imprisonment and, under pressure, paid ₹20,000. According to him, the woman later withdrew her complaint, stating that she was no longer facing harassment.
In the video, Kumar displayed documents, written applications and screenshots that he said supported his allegations. However, the claims made in the video have not been independently verified, and the version of the woman involved or the police has not been established from the information available.
Kumar, also known as Mukesh Kumar, founded Kumar’s IAS in 2006. The institute has centres in Agra, Mathura and Jhansi and focuses on civil services preparation.
