CJP Leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka Released After Giving One-Year Peace Undertaking

New Delhi: An executive magistrate court in Delhi on Sunday released Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka from preventive detention, a day after they were detained by Delhi Police ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar.

The three leaders were released on the condition that they maintain peace and good behaviour for one year, CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh said. Advocate Soutik Banerjee also confirmed their release.

According to Delhi Police, the leaders were preventively arrested on October 10 under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). They were subsequently produced before the Sub-Divisional Executive Magistrate court in Delhi Cantonment on Sunday.

Police said all due legal procedures were followed and a surety bond of Rs 50,000 was furnished to ensure peace and good behaviour for one year.

The detentions took place amid heightened security arrangements in the national capital. According to police sources, more than 7,000 protesters were detained at multiple locations to prevent them from reaching Jantar Mantar. Several opposition leaders, including former chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, Pinarayi Vijayan and Manik Sarkar, were also detained while attempting to join the protest.

The CJP and opposition parties have been demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls. Police continued security preparations amid the party’s renewed call for a protest on Sunday.
