Mumbai Parel Clash After Eid Procession: Three Booked, Police Launch Manhunt Amid Calls to Ignore Rumours

Mumbai: A clash broke out in Mumbai’s Parel area on Wednesday night following an Eid procession, prompting the police to deploy additional personnel and launch an investigation into the incident. The Bhoiwada police have booked three individuals in connection with the confrontation and are also attempting to identify others allegedly involved.

The accused have been identified as Rehan Masood Sayyad (19), Adil Khan Ahmed Khan (19) and Miraj Mohammad Firoz Rais (18). Police said a manhunt has been launched for other unidentified people who were allegedly part of the mob.

According to preliminary information, members of two groups allegedly exchanged slogans, following which a verbal altercation broke out and subsequently escalated into a clash. Reports of stone pelting and the use of mild police force have also emerged. However, police officials said the exact trigger behind the confrontation has not yet been established.

Authorities have cautioned against drawing conclusions based on claims circulating on social media. Officials said several posts and versions of the incident were being shared online, but stressed that the investigation was still underway.

A case has been registered under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 189, 191, 195, 118 and 121, along with Sections 137 and 133 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The accused have also been booked for allegedly violating prohibitory orders issued by the Mumbai Police Commissioner restricting unlawful assembly.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Manoj Sharma appealed to residents to remain calm and refrain from believing or spreading rumours. Senior police officers were deployed in the area, and authorities said the situation was brought under control.

Police maintained that there was no need for panic and said the area remained calm after the clash. The investigation is continuing to establish the sequence of events, identify those involved and determine what triggered the confrontation.
