MP Govt Appoints DMK Politician P. Wilson to Defend OBC Quota Hike in Supreme Court, ₹5.5 Lakh Per Appearance

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has appointed senior advocate and DMK politician P. Wilson to represent the state in the Supreme Court case challenging the hike in Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation from 14% to 27%. An official order issued by the General Administration Department, Vallabh Bhawan, Bhopal, confirmed the appointment in connection with petition No. TC (C) 7/2025 Shivam Gautam vs State of Madhya Pradesh, along with all related matters pending before the apex court.

According to the order dated September 22, 2025, Wilson will receive ₹5,50,000 per court appearance and ₹1,50,000 per conference, with no additional fees for appearances in other petitions on the same subject. The directive was issued in the name of the Governor and digitally signed by Under Secretary Suman Raikwar.

The move has drawn attention in political circles, as P. Wilson is a Rajya Sabha MP from Tamil Nadu and a prominent DMK leader, while Madhya Pradesh is governed by the BJP under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
