New Delhi: A deeply disturbing case of alleged sexual assault involving an 11-year-old Class 5 student has come to light in North Delhi, leading to the arrest of a school van driver and his helper under the stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to police, the incident surfaced after the young student confided in her class teacher about the alleged abuse. The girl reportedly revealed that the school van driver would drop her near her home only after all other children had been dropped off. During these occasions, the driver and his helper allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the alleged abuse continued for several months. The accused are also alleged to have threatened the child with making videos of her viral whenever she resisted, creating an atmosphere of fear that prevented her from speaking out earlier.
After learning about the allegations, the class teacher immediately informed the girl’s parents, who subsequently approached the police and lodged a formal complaint. Acting on the complaint, police arrested both accused on Friday and registered a case under the POCSO Act.
Authorities said the survivor has been provided counselling and support. Investigators are also examining whether the accused may have been involved in similar offences involving other children.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected. As the survivor is a minor, her identity is protected under the law, and authorities have urged the public and media to respect her privacy.
