Viral Audio Sparks Row: RJD MLA Bhai Virendra Accused of Threatening Panchayat Secretary, Case Filed Under SC-ST Act

Patna: A major controversy has erupted in Bihar after an audio clip allegedly featuring Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Bhai Virendra threatening a panchayat secretary went viral on social media. The three-minute audio has triggered political and administrative repercussions, leading to a show-cause notice against the secretary and a counter-case against the MLA under the SC-ST Act.

According to officials, the viral audio purportedly records Bhai Virendra threatening Sandeep Kumar, the panchayat secretary of Gram Panchayat Sarai and Baluan, and allegedly using derogatory language, even threatening to beat him with shoes. Following the uproar, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Maner issued a show-cause notice to Sandeep Kumar.

In the notice, the BDO stated that on July 26, 2025, Bhai Virendra had complained over the phone that Kumar spoke to him in an “impolite and inappropriate manner” while discussing official work. “Your act is against the protocol expected towards a public representative and reflects behavior contrary to that of a government employee,” the notice read. Kumar has been directed to submit his explanation within 24 hours of receiving the notice.

In a dramatic turn of events, Panchayat Secretary Sandeep Kumar lodged a formal complaint against Bhai Virendra at the SC-ST police station. The complaint accuses the MLA of using abusive language and issuing threats, which Kumar claims amounts to harassment and a violation of the SC-ST Act.

Police officials confirmed that an investigation has been initiated. “We are examining the contents of the viral audio and the complaint filed by the secretary. Action will be taken based on evidence,” a senior police officer said.
