Controversy Erupts Over Offensive Remarks by Azad Samaj Party Leader on Hindu Deities and Maha Kumbh

Prayagraj: A video of a female leader associated with Chandrashekhar Azad’s Azad Samaj Party has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage for her alleged derogatory comments about Hindu deities, saints, and the ongoing Maha Kumbh. The incident has drawn criticism from various quarters, including religious leaders and political figures.

According to the police, the video was brought to their attention by a concerned citizen who uploaded it online and tagged law enforcement authorities. Following this, a case was promptly registered at the Majhola Police Station. Muradabad’s SP City, Kumar Ranvijay Singh, confirmed that the leader has been accused of using offensive language and inciting religious sentiments.

“The Majhola Police have taken cognizance of the video and initiated an investigation. A case has been filed, and we are making efforts to locate the accused,” said SP City Singh. Police teams have reportedly visited the leader’s residence but have not been able to trace her so far.

The incident has led to widespread anger among residents of Moradabad and beyond. Many have condemned the remarks, emphasizing the sacred nature of the Maha Kumbh, which is currently underway and will continue until February 26, 2025. Religious leaders and political opponents alike have called for strict action against the accused.

The controversy comes shortly after a similar statement by Chandrashekhar Azad himself. The Nagina MP recently stirred controversy by claiming, “Only sinners will go to the Maha Kumbh. But who admits to their sins?” His remarks drew sharp criticism from BJP leaders and saints, who accused him of undermining the sanctity of the religious festival.

The Maha Kumbh, which commenced on January 13, is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world and holds immense spiritual significance for Hindus. Any remarks against the event are seen as a direct attack on cultural and religious sentiments.

As investigations proceed, police are under pressure to ensure swift action. The incident has further intensified political tensions in the region, with the BJP and religious leaders demanding accountability from Azad Samaj Party representatives.
