Sambhal: Minor Girl Held Hostage, Assaulted in Mosque; Maulana and Brother Arrested

Sambhal: In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the community, a 13-year-old girl was held hostage for three hours and allegedly assaulted within the confines of a mosque in Sambhal district. The accused, identified as Maulana Sajid and his minor brother, were arrested by the local police following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother.

The horrifying ordeal unfolded on Friday evening when the girl, who had gone to the mosque to meet her younger brother, was allegedly lured and confined by the Maulana’s brother. The victim’s family, alerted by her absence, launched a search and eventually found her inside the mosque.

Upon entering the mosque, they discovered the disturbing scene: the minor boy was attempting to sexually assault the girl. Alarmed, they immediately contacted the police.

The police arrived at the scene and apprehended both the Maulana and his brother. The victim was subsequently sent for a medical examination.

A case has been registered against the accused under the stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Local residents expressed their shock and outrage over the incident, questioning how such a heinous crime could occur within a place of worship. They demanded swift justice for the victim and called for stricter measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
