NCR Bans Petrol-Diesel Delivery Vehicles from January 2026; Companies Asked to Switch to Clean Fuel

Noida: In a major environmental move aimed at tackling rising pollution levels, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has issued an important directive banning petrol and diesel vehicles used for e-commerce and online deliveries in Noida and Greater Noida from 1 January 2026. The order mandates that all delivery operations must shift entirely to CNG or electric vehicles (EVs) within the stipulated period.

According to the official notification, no delivery company will be allowed to deploy petrol or diesel-powered bikes, scooters, autos, or small commercial vehicles (LCV/LGV) for transporting goods once the rule becomes effective. This decision directly impacts leading delivery and logistics platforms such as Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Amazon, and Flipkart, along with thousands of delivery partners who depend on conventional vehicles for their daily operations.

To ensure smooth and timely implementation, a crucial meeting was held at the ARTO office in Sector 32, Noida. The meeting was chaired by ARTO (Administration) Nand Kumar, with ARTO Vinay Kumar Singh and representatives from various online delivery companies in attendance. Officials made it clear that the 2026 deadline is final and will not be extended, urging companies to initiate fleet upgrades immediately.

Speaking about the decision, ARTO Nand Kumar emphasized that the move is not merely administrative but a necessary measure to curb air pollution. Given the high number of delivery vehicles operating daily, emissions from petrol and diesel engines significantly contribute to deteriorating air quality. Transitioning to clean-fuel vehicles is expected to bring considerable relief and improve overall environmental health.
