Lucknow: In a tragic turn of events, two Rajput men were lynched and several others injured in a violent altercation between two caste groups in the village of Rana Deoria, under the jurisdiction of the Bhira police station in Lakhimpur Kheri district. The incident, which occurred late Friday night, raised questions on the law and order situation of the state.
The deceased, identified as Guddu Singh, son of Ramdev Singh, and Ranjit Singh, son of Jaswant Singh, succumbed to their injuries after allegedly being attacked by a group of 28 Harijan families. The clash reportedly began over the issue of driving away stray animals from the village.
According to local reports, the incident began when members of the deceased’s family were driving stray animals out of the village. The animals, when chased, ended up near the houses of another group of villagers, sparking a dispute. The argument quickly escalated into a violent brawl involving sticks and other weapons, leading to injuries on both sides.
Eight individuals, including Guddu Singh and Ranjit Singh, sustained serious injuries during the confrontation. All the injured were initially taken to a local hospital. However, due to the severity of their injuries, Guddu Singh and Ranjit Singh were rushed to Lucknow for further treatment. Tragically, they succumbed to their injuries later that night.
The assailants reportedly fled the scene immediately after the incident. In response to the violence, the Kheri Superintendent of Police (SP) Ganesh Prasad Saha, along with Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sanjay Singh, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nepal Singh, and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gola, rushed to the village to assess the situation and maintain order.
Speaking to the media, SP Saha confirmed that an FIR was being lodged against the accused based on the complaint filed by the aggrieved family. He assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the attack.
The incident has sparked outrage and concern among the villagers, with many calling for justice for the deceased. The local authorities have increased police presence in the area to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of the residents.
As the investigation continues, the families of Guddu Singh and Ranjit Singh mourn their untimely deaths, hoping for justice and accountability for the perpetrators of this brutal act.
