OBCs set Ambedkar statue on fire, were angry over its installation near to temple

JogulambaGadwal(Telangana): Tensions are high in the Irkichedu village of Jogulamba Gadwal district after an Ambedkar statue was set on fire by the people belonging to a backward community. As per the report, Some people was opposing the installation of the statue had put it on fire, and tried to damage it in the presence of police.

The video of the whole incident is doing rounds on social media where people are criticizing the incident. In the video, some people, allegedly from Boya Caste, had put fire on the statue while police were trying to disperse the angry crowd.

“Won’t allow it near our place of worship”

Gadwal DSP N. Ranga Swamy said that there were disturbances when one group insisted that the statue be installed on the school premises and not at the chosen spot. The gram panchayat had consented to install Ambedkar’s statue at one of the three places that were identified-the school premises, the main center, and another place in the village.

However, when being installed at the main center, the other group said that the statue should not be installed near a place of worship.
