Lucknow(UP, India): In a recent move of giving reservations to the OBCs in the NEET exams, the Government has attracted strong criticism from the pro-merit groups.
These groups are preparing to call a Nationwide protest against the central government’s decision of implementing OBC reservations in the All India Quota seats of medical colleges.
The all-India quota consists of 15 percent of the total available UG seats and 50 percent of the total available PG seats in government medical colleges.
National President of All India Savarna Morcha Sanjeev Singh has criticized the BJP by alleging that the upper castes have always been staunch supporters of BJP. He said that the upper castes had a crucial role in taking the BJP back to power. But what did they get in return? Everywhere their opportunities are being cut in the name of reservations.
Singh also warned the current BJP government for the repercussions they would likely get in UP elections. He claims that the pro-merit groups are coming together to call a Bharat Band in the coming weeks.
“We are in touch with 35 pro-merit groups from all caste groups and planning to demonstrate against the anti-merit policies of the central government. They are killing merit for the sake of their votes”, Singh told Neo Politico.
However, the BJP government is cheering the move by declaring it a landmark decision. Now, OBC students from across the country shall be able to take benefit of this reservation in the AIQ scheme to compete for seats in any state.
