Patna(India): In the last 10 years, 67,163 cases have been lodged under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and only 8% have been proved true in Bihar. This data has been received in the review meeting of the SC / ST Act convened by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Also, the court has delivered justice in 872 cases. Out of these cases, in only 75 cases the courts have convicted the accused.
Bihar Police data has shown that the maximum number of 7,574 cases were registered under the Act in 2020. This was followed by 7,125 cases in 2018 and 6,826 in 2017. Between January 2011 and November 2021, out of 44,150 cases, judgments have been pronounced in only 872 cases.
More wait can harm the innocents
Due to the slow disposal of the cases, many innocent people are suffering. This leads to the mental trauma of the families whose members have been framed in false cases.
Recently, a young man has requested euthanasia from PM Modi as the false case has spoiled his career.
