Lucknow(UP, India): Yogi government is all set to rechristen the name of Sultanpur to Kush Bhavanpur.
A senior official of the Revenue Council has said that the council has sent its recommendation to the government. Now the final decision will be taken by the state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The proposal states that Kush Bhavanpur used to be the capital of Kush, son of Lord Rama in Treta Yuga. The generations ahead of Maharaj Kush ruled here till Dwapar. Later, during Mughal rule Kush Bhavanpur came to be known as Sultanpur.
Before this, in a letter to chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Governor Ram Naik has endorsed the name change of Sultanpur to Kushbhawanpur, after the name of Lord Ram’s son Kush.
Since BJP come to power in the state, it has changed the names of Allahabad to Prayagraj, Faizabad to Ayodhya, and Mughalsarai railway station in Chandauli to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction.
