Rajasthan: Tribals set houses of 20 Dalit families on fire, caste violence took one life

Banswara: One man succumbed to wounds and some people were injured in a clash between two caste groups in Rajasthan’s Banswara district. After a heated discussion, 20 houses of Dalit families have been set on fire by the tribals on Sunday.

It was reported that a tribal man was killed by a Valimiki boy, during a village panchayat, when the people from both communities were trying to resolve a dispute. The incident sparked large-scale violence between the two caste groups. Allegedly 20 houses of Valmikis have been burnt by the violent tribal mob.

It was also alleged by the villagers that the violent mob was ready to take lives and set their homes on fire. They ran away from their homes to save lives. The miscreants set fire to 20 houses. The police reached the spot and extinguished the fire with the help of the fire brigade. Kushalgarh DSP Balveer Singh, CI Mahipal Singh, and Sajjangarh police station in-charge Ruplal Meena were present on the spot.

Police said that on March 19, Praveen Valmiki was abused by a tribal boy in a tempo. Praveen felt that the abuser was Madasiya’s son Sunil. Praveen reached Sunil’s house and beat him up. Negotiations were called on Sunday to end the dispute. During the conversation, Praveen got into an argument with Dalsingh, brother of Madasiya. Praveen kicked on Dal Singh’s private part, which made him unconscious. His family members took him to Kushalgarh Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

FIR on 13 people

Police have registered an FIR on 13 people and an investigation is being carried out for the arrest of the accused.
