Dalits allegedly vandalised the Hindu temple in Gonda

Gonda: A Hindu temple has been vandalised in the Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred at the Shobhapur Village which comes under the Nawabganj police limits.

Ramshankar Dubey who works as a priest at the local temple accused three persons from the Dalit community. As per details, the temple is home to a Durga Mata statue, a Hanuman Statue and a statue of Shiv ji. The miscreants vandalised the statue of Durga Mata by breaking her head.

“RamDayal Jatav and the members of his community threatened to vandalise the temple. He also threatened to book me under a false case of the SC-ST act”; Dubey told NP.

Police didn’t take up the case

On complaining to the police, the police refused to register an FIR. They restored the statue and warned the alleged accused.

“The accused can harm me. I am handicapped and can’t do anything. Before this case, they had tried to implicate me in a false case. They also want to grab the land of the temple”, Dubey added.

Temple was constructed by donations

The only temple in the village was constructed with the help of donations given by the villagers. Ramshankar Dubey is working as a caretaker and Pujari of the temple.
