Sambhal(Uttar Pradesh, India): A temple priest was allegedly killed by a man over some dispute in the Asmoli area here, police said on Friday.
Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra said the body of 50-year-old Mahant Bharat Giri was found in a temple in Gumsani village on Friday morning. It seems that he was brutally killed last night with the help of rods and sharp-edged weapons.
Mahant Bharat Giri was serving as a Priest at the Pataleshwar Shiv Mandir located under the Asmoli police station area.
According to the police, the accused had made up his mind to kill Pujari due to a dispute that happened two days ago. After which, as soon as he got the opportunity, he attacked and killed the priest.
However, police have arrested the accused by unveiling the case within two hours. Police said they arrested a man, identified as Monu Valmiki of the same village, for killing Giri by hitting him with an iron rod due to some dispute.
Police have also recovered the iron rod used in the murder from the nearby pond.
