New Delhi: Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has released the updated – The Drone Rules, 2021 for public consultation. Built on a premise of trust, self-certification, and non-intrusive monitoring, The Drone Rules, 2021 will replace the UAS Rules 2021 (released on 12 March 2021).
According to the draft Drone Rules 2021, operating drones without unique identification numbers will not be allowed unless exempted. Drone operators will have to generate a unique identification number of a drone by providing requisite details on the digital sky platform. Also, now the government fee is to be reduced to nominal levels and won’t depend on drone sizes.
Drone Corridors
Now, like other developed countries aviation ministry will develop drone corridors for cargo deliveries. It will boost the trade and E-Commerce business of the country. However, the ministry still has to release more details on the developing Drone corridors in the country.
Moreover, the coverage of drones under Drone Rules, 2021 increased from 300 kg to 500 kg. This will cover drone taxis also.
No License for non-commercial use
The released draft says that no pilot license will be required for micro drones used for non-commercial use, nano drones, and for research and development (R&D) organizations operating such drones.
