Dalit SI beats up student for having Brahmin surname, Case registered

Sultanpur(Uttar Pradesh): A case has been registered against a Sub Inspector for brutally beating a student who was going to attend his coaching classes. Sachin Tiwari, a 20-year-old student and ABVP leader, was going for taking his coaching classes by his scooty on 13 March. The SI Ram Kishor Rawat, who is posted at Kotwali Police station, was checking the vehicles where he stopped Sachin at around 4 PM. After asking for the documents, SI Rawat allegedly asked Sachin to tell his full name. Afterwhich Rawat assaulted him for having a brahmin surname.

“I went for the classes at around 3.45 PM. At ShashtriNagar, SI sir was checking the vehicles and asked me to stop. I had shown him my documents and told him that I am a student. He asked my full name and had beaten me for my surname. I was hit with 20 to 25 sticks.”

FIR registered on SI

An FIR has been registered on the SI Ram Kishor Rawat for beating a student badly. He has been booked under IPCs 323, 504, and 506.

SC-ST act registered on the victim

A cross FIR with a delay of one day has also been registered on the victim. SI Ram Kishor Rawat has booked Sachin Tiwari for allegedly using caste slurs against him.

Police said Sachin Tiwari has been booked under IPC sections 186 (voluntarily obstructing public servant), 353 (assaulting public servant), 504, 506, and various sections of the SC-ST act.
