Lucknow: In a horrifying incident that has sent shockwaves through the nation, a two-year-old girl was brutally raped and murdered in the Sadar police station area of Meerut. The accused, identified as Moish, a resident of Purnia district, Bihar, was apprehended by police after a dramatic encounter in which he was shot in both legs.
The gruesome details of the crime came to light as CCTV footage emerged showing the accused attempting multiple times to abduct the child while she slept beside her mother. In a chilling display of brutality, he eventually succeeded in carrying her away, silencing her cries by pressing her face.
The child’s lifeless body was found in the Abu drain the following morning. The accused, who worked at a local hotel, was subsequently arrested. However, a shocking turn of events unfolded when he managed to escape police custody while being taken for a medical examination.
Undeterred, law enforcement launched a manhunt and apprehended the accused again in a fierce encounter near Kankarkheda, two hours after his escape. A .315 bore pistol and cartridges were recovered from his possession.
SSP Dr. Vipin Tada confirmed that the post-mortem report indicated rape, and the accused has been charged under stringent POCSO provisions. The police are now investigating the source of the firearm and any potential accomplices.
