Lucknow: In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves through the local community, the manager of a closed school was found murdered and his body burnt within the dilapidated premises. The deceased, identified as Jamwant Sharma, was discovered by villagers, raising suspicions of foul play.
The gruesome discovery unfolded at Shrimati Prayagraj Inter College, which has remained shuttered for the past five years, leaving the building in a state of disrepair. Jamwant Sharma, a resident of Dhaurahra village under the Walterganj police station, had left his home for a morning walk around 5:00 AM. Local residents confirmed having seen him depart.
However, at approximately 8:00 AM, villagers passing by the abandoned school noticed smoke emanating from within. Upon closer inspection, they were horrified to find a body engulfed in flames. Alerted by the commotion, a large crowd gathered, and some individuals who were initially seen near the fire fled the scene, strongly suggesting that they were the accused.
The villagers promptly extinguished the fire and discovered the charred remains of Jamwant Sharma. The police, including SP OP Singh, CO Sadar Satyendra Bhushan, and officers from Walterganj and Rudhauli, were immediately dispatched to the scene along with a forensic team.
The SP himself led the investigation at the crime scene, where crucial evidence, including the victim’s ATM card and slippers, was recovered. These findings are expected to play a significant role in the ongoing investigation. “The circumstances surrounding this incident are still unclear,” stated Additional Superintendent of Police OP Singh. “A murder case has been registered, and the investigation is currently underway.”
The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village. Sharma’s family, including his wife and daughter, have confirmed the identity of the deceased, citing identifying features such as a set of keys around his neck and his distinctive slippers.
Villagers are expressing strong suspicions of foul play, believing the attempt to burn the body was a deliberate effort to destroy evidence.
The investigation has taken a complex turn, as Sharma was previously implicated in a murder case dating back to 2014. He was accused of killing Dr. Ramsurat, a resident of Dharuhi village, allegedly over a woman both were romantically involved with. Sharma was subsequently imprisoned for one and a half years before his release.
Furthermore, it has been reported that Sharma had been embroiled in a dispute with a teacher who provided private tuition while also working at the now-defunct school.
The police are diligently investigating all possible angles, including the past allegations and potential motives stemming from personal and professional conflicts.
