Vijayawada: In a major move aimed at fostering inclusivity and equal opportunity, the Andhra Pradesh State government has revised the guidelines for the Mega District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment, offering significant relief to candidates from Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Backward Classes (BCs), and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
According to the latest order issued by the School Education Department, the minimum qualifying marks for these categories have been reduced from 45% to 40%. This revision applies to both language and non-language subjects under the School Assistant (SA) and Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) categories.
The decision aligns the Mega DSC recruitment criteria with the existing standards of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), thereby ensuring uniformity and promoting wider participation from candidates belonging to marginalised communities.
This progressive step is expected to benefit thousands of teaching aspirants across the State, particularly those who had previously found it challenging to meet the higher cutoff.
In another notable amendment, the School Education Department has also eased the application process by making the uploading of certificates optional during submission. However, officials have clarified that candidates must still possess the required educational qualifications and must produce the original documents during the certificate verification stage.
The updated policy is part of the broader efforts by the Andhra Pradesh government to streamline recruitment processes and enhance diversity in the State’s educational institutions.
