Deoria: In a disturbing incident that has sparked outrage among RSS and BJP workers, Rameshwar Tiwari, a dedicated RSS worker from Bhikham Chhapra village in Lar police station area, and his daughter were allegedly subjected to police brutality on September 24, 2024. The incident, which has since gone viral on social media, has led to demands for immediate action against the involved police officers.
According to reports, Tiwari had been summoned to the police station along with his family due to a land dispute with a Pattidar. During the discussion, Tiwari identified himself as a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which reportedly enraged the station clerk. It is alleged that the clerk, in a fit of anger, dragged Tiwari’s daughter by her hair, assaulted her, and had her further beaten by female constables.
The situation escalated when three constables, identified as belonging to the Yadav community, allegedly grabbed Tiwari by his hair tuft, subjected him to kicks and punches, and threatened him with dire consequences if he disclosed the assault to a doctor during his medical checkup. The constables reportedly warned him that his entire family would be “ruined” if he mentioned his injuries to medical authorities at the CHC (Community Health Center).
Upon learning about the incident and the viral video, hundreds of BJP workers, along with the District President Bhupendra Singh, rushed to the scene. They gathered at Singh’s residence, demanding swift and stringent action against the officers involved. The BJP workers condemned the alleged harassment, calling it a clear case of bias and brutality, and handed over a formal complaint seeking justice for Tiwari and his daughter.
In response to the outcry, BJP District President Bhupendra Singh reached out to Superintendent of Police Sankalp Sharma, urging him to take immediate action against the three constables and the station clerk. Singh emphasized that the harassment of RSS and BJP workers by law enforcement would not be tolerated, demanding the dismissal of the officers involved and the removal of the SHO (Station House Officer) in charge of Lar police station.
Speaking to the media, Singh said, “This kind of harassment and mistreatment of our workers is completely unacceptable. We stand with the Tiwari family, and we will not rest until those responsible are brought to justice.”
The incident has also brought to light allegations that police stations in the district are being controlled by brokers rather than law enforcement. Sources allege that powerful brokers hush up even serious incidents in exchange for large sums of money, undermining the rule of law. This particular case has highlighted the growing concerns over the influence of brokers within the police force, especially in handling disputes involving RSS and BJP workers.
