Aligarh: In a disturbing video shared on social media, a young woman from Aligarh’s Khair police station area made a public appeal for help, claiming that her life is in danger due to her family’s opposition to her choice of religion and marriage. The woman, whose identity is being withheld for safety reasons, expressed her desire to convert to Hinduism and marry her Hindu boyfriend, Shaurya Verma. She alleged that her family is holding her hostage in their home and has the intent to kill her to prevent the marriage.
The woman stated in the video, “I love a young man named Shaurya Verma, and I want to marry him. I believe in Hinduism and want to convert. I am breaking ties with my family and will never back down from my decision. My family members will kill me. I have been imprisoned in the house, and my life is in danger.”
The video, posted a day ago, quickly gained attention, prompting police action. The woman also claimed that her brother had abused her, stating, “My brother touched me indecently. Now he can do anything with me. I am not safe in my house. The police should take me away from here and help me marry my lover.”
The young woman’s plea has reached local authorities, with the Khair police station’s Circle Officer (CO) Varun Singh addressing the media about the case. he confirmed that both the woman and her boyfriend are adults and have expressed their desire to marry each other. “The police are fully supporting them. They will be married in court within the next two days. The woman has also talked to her family and, in a subsequent video says that she no longer has a problem with them. However, we are continuing to monitor the situation and are providing her with security,” Singh said.
the woman has also written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the district administration, urging the authorities to ensure her safety and prevent any harm from coming to her.
